Roads Scholar #5: Safety - A Common Sense Approach for Public Works Employees   

This training course is specifically designed for local public agency personnel and public works employees who may face safety hazards while performing daily tasks.

Topics include:

• Understanding safety roles and responsibilities at all levels
• How a positive safety culture impacts the safety environment
• Identifying and controlling hazards
• The importance of Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)
• Common hazards faced by Public Works Employees
• Usage and maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment
• Working around heavy equipment, with hand tools and power tools
• Vehicle operator safety tips
